Everton keeping close tabs on Rangers ace Glen Kamara ahead of January

Everton are keeping close tabs on Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara ahead of the January transfer window, according to TEAMtalk.

The Toffees are not the only ones keen on the Finland international, 26, with Aston Villa, Watford, Southampton, Burnley and Newcastle United also interested in bringing him to the Premier League.

Kamara signed a new contract with the Ibrox club earlier this year, but he does have a price tag, and the Scottish Premiership giants are well aware of the interests in him.

Feasible target?

The Rangers ace was one of the reasons Steven Gerrard led the side to the Scottish top-flight league title in 2020-21, and Everton could do with such a quality midfielder in their ranks.

The Guardian reported on Tuesday (21 December) that Rafa Benitez wants a new central midfielder in January, and while a name was not mentioned, it would not be surprising to know that Kamara is on their radar.

The former Arsenal academy player would be keen to return to England, but Villa could have the upper hand in the race, with a reunion between him and Gerrard on the cards.

The Midlands boss dubbed Kamara “excellent” last December after a league game, and he has continued to prove himself, playing a key role as new Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst continues his impressive start to life at Ibrox.

Everton need to strengthen their squad for the second half of 2021-22, and landing the Finnish would be massive.

He will most likely be within their price range, and given the project owner Farhad Moshiri is trying to oversee at Goodison Park, he could be open to a move.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are plotting January loan-to-buy bid for centre-mid hailed by Jack Grealish last month.
