Everton tracking Metz defender Fabien Centonze

Everton are tracking Metz defender Fabien Centonze ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.

That’s according to Patrick Boyland, who has reported that the Toffees are looking to strengthen at right-back next month.

Two other names were mentioned, Calvin Ramsay at Aberdeen and the current favourite, Rangers sensation Nathan Patterson.

Writing in the Transfer Mailbag for The Athletic, Boyland shared the latest on the right-back targets at Goodison Park.

“Aberdeen’s Calvin Ramsay and Metz’s Fabien Centonze are two others we believe have been tracked, but Patterson is the favourite as it stands,” he wrote.

“It’d be interesting to see what happened if they missed out on Patterson.”

Money.

This is what it all comes down to at Goodison Park, how much will Farhad Moshiri give Rafa Benitez to spend in January.

Financial Fair Play rules are tight but if money is available, it looks as though Patterson will be the one they go for.

What happens if that doesn’t happen then? Will Centonze become the main target?

The 25-year-old has enjoyed a brilliant season in Ligue 1 so far, making 17 appearances, scoring four goals and adding one assist down the right.

Centonze started the season on fire, scoring twice on the opening day in a 3-3 thriller against Lyon – something that would have certainly caught the eye at Goodison Park if they were watching.

It is good to know that we are watching three right-backs ahead of January, a replacement is needed for Seamus Coleman in the near future and it looks as though we’re going to get one, one way or another.
