Kevin Campbell reacts to ongoing Everton crisis with COVID-19 at Finch Farm

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell has insisted that Everton may still be hit by more positive COVID-19 cases in the imminent future.

The ex-Toffees talisman believes that no matter which precautions are in place, positive tests can still appear regardless.

The Toffees have seen appeals for their fixture against Burnley on Boxing Day turned down despite Finch Farm being closed to visitors.

“You take as much precaution as you can, but we’ve seen if people are going to get it, they’re going to get it,” he exclusively told Goodison News.

“So, you could be as cautious as you like, because I know clubs have been cautious in the past and the COVID cases have still been springing up.

“You can be cautious and take your time, you could put all the protocols in place that you want, but if there’s going to be COVID cases then you just have to act accordingly.”

More trouble?

We still can’t believe that the Premier League have turned down appeals to have our Boxing Day clash at Turf Moor postponed.

It looks as though we could be set for another packed squad of under-23s, which may not be the worst given their success at Chelsea last time out.

Having said that, with their exposure to the first team, there are more players who could be hit by the virus and that is the real worry.

If any more positive tests are discovered, the Premier League will be left with no choice but to postpone the game, and given the way it is spreading around the country, that may be the case.
