Everton-linked Phillipe Coutinho's agents head to England

FC Barcelona attacker Phillipe Coutinho’s agents are reportedly heading to England to finalise his transfer, amid links to Everton.

According to Sport, (27/12/2021, Pg.5), the Toffees have enquired about the possibilities of doing a deal in the January transfer window.

It is also understood that Arsenal are keen on signing the Brazilian and could look to make a move next month.

Can’t afford him

It’s strange to see where these Coutinho links are coming from as Everton aren’t in the best financial situation right now.

For the last three years, one could argue that they had the financial muscle to sign players of his calibre, but that seems highly unlikely now.

The fact that they barely had any funds to sign players in the summer makes one wonder how they’ll be able to pay Coutinho’s high wages.

Also, the Barcelona attacker is not the player he was at Liverpool where he took the Premier League by storm as was one of the best players in the division.

Roberto Firmino, who’s shared the dressing rooms with him at Anfield as well as for the national team, is a big admirer of the player.

“He’s phenomenal,” he told FIFA.com.  “He has magical powers. He produces plays that don’t exist, that you couldn’t make up. He’s one of the very best players in the world.”

However, at 29, we don’t believe that he is the player he once was and the club would be wasting resources to sign him.
