Everton willing to let Lucas Digne leave on loan with option to buy

Everton are reportedly open to the idea of letting Lucas Digne leave the club on loan in January and including an option to buy.

According to reliable Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Rafa Benitez has made the decision to offload the France international in the winter transfer window.

This comes after the club are closing in on the signature of left-back Vitaliy Mykolenko, who has been viewed as Digne’s replacement.

Should be sold

If Benitez wants nothing to do with the player, then the best thing is to cash in on his services.

An option to buy gives the other club the choice to opt-out from signing him permanently at the end of the season.

Alternatively, the Toffees could include the obligation to buy so they’re guaranteed a fee once the loan contract runs out.

This will ensure that there will be money coming into the club’s coffers for sure and it will be a pre-determined amount regardless of well Digne does there.

Chelsea and Inter Milan are understood to be among the clubs keeping a keen eye on the 28-year-old.

The next week or two will give a better indication as to what the club’s actual plans are to offload the player, either in January or if they decide to wait until the end of the season.
