Vitality Mykolenko won’t be able to play for Everton v Brighton with January 1st move set – report

Everton will not be able to play any new January signings in their upcoming Premier League clash against Brighton, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Dynamo Kyiv left-back Vitaliy Mykolenko is set to move to Goodison Park on January 1st with Lucas Digne set to leave the club [Sunday People].

The ECHO has shared that Mykolenko would not be available to play, despite the transfer window set to open the day before on the Saturday.

Everton

The Premier League have introduced a new rule which states that new signings between the 1st and the 3rd cannot be registered.

Everton entertain Brighton on match week 21, meaning that Mykolenko could only watch from the stands if announced.

That means as things stand, the first time the Ukrainian could start for the Toffees would be in the FA Cup against Hull City.

Everton

Shame.

With Digne having burned his bridges with Rafa Benitez, the Spaniard looks to have moved quick to get this deal over the line.

Mykolenko will cover a huge gap at left-back, meaning we won’t have to see much of make-shift cover Ben Godfrey after our meeting with Brighton.

The Ukrainian could arrive and be announced in the next 48 hours based on those reports, and it would be brilliant to see him at Goodison Park on Sunday to give everyone a real boost.

Imagine him being announced on the pitch, Benitez will have kicked off the window perfectly and then a so-called “easier” match against Hull could give him the chance to settle in.

It’s a real shame he couldn’t be available for the matchday squad on Sunday, but this way, it could work out even better.
