View: Gordon dubbed ‘breath of fresh air’ must start for Everton
Anthony Gordon continued to shine throughout a 3-2 defeat for Everton at Goodison Park yesterday against Brighton & Hove Albion (January 2).
The 20-year-old was the Blues’ stand out performer, bagging a brace against the Seagulls in the second half.
The Liverpool lad has been a revolution in the first team this season and should be trusted more after great performances when given the opportunity.

He deserved to be on the winning side after yesterday’s performance with his energy down the right-hand side unrivalled.
Gordon worked the space for his first Premier League goal really well but was fortunate to see it nestle the back of the net thanks to a huge deflection after the ball struck Adam Lallana.
His second was pure class as he started the move down the right-hand side and got himself into the box to sweep it home at the near post.
Former Blue, Kevin Sheedy, took to Twitter to praise the youngster, he said: “Great performance by Anthony Gordon today. Breath of fresh air for the Blues. A top player in the making. COYB”
Trust him
In terms of Premier League action, Gordon is completely new onto the scene. But that doesn’t mean Evertonians aren’t aware of his quality with the starlet’s arrival to the first team being anticipated for several years now.
He has shown he is good enough by grabbing the opportunity with both hands, something Rafa Benitez must take notice of as the Spaniard looks to find a way to turn things around at Goodison Park.
Being a young player desperate to prove himself, Gordon gives it his absolute all every time he puts on the blue shirt. His energy and desire to impress could make the difference in games to come as it nearly did yesterday.
There is no better way for the local lad to develop than playing first team football.
When the team is performing poorly it’s almost as if there is no pressure on the academy players that come in because surely it can’t get any worse than the senior players – something Gordon has more than taken advantage of.
