David Prentice full of praise for Anthony Gordon after Everton v Brighton brace
The ECHO’s David Prentice has been full of praise for Everton youngster Anthony Gordon, after he opened his Premier League goalscoring record with a brace on Sunday (January 2).
Despite putting in such an impressive performance, the Liverpool lad was on the losing side as the seagulls won 3-2 at Goodison Park.
Gordon impressed down the right-hand side and looks ready to become a regular first team player after joining Everton’s academy aged 11.

He said whilst speaking on the the Royal Blue podcast: “Anthony Gordon is looking really robust and purposeful now isn’t he?
“He’s always been tidy and relatively creative but he needed to bulk up a little bit, he needed to improve his strength because the Premier League is so unforgiving in terms of physicality.
“He’s done that and he’s showing. His running with the ball is strong now and he’s shrugging off defenders and he’s making things happen.”
Rising stars
Gordon is a pleasure to watch when he plays for Everton. After making his debut in 2020 in a 0-0 draw against Liverpool, he finally looks as though he can deliver the goods on a consistent basis for the Toffees.

Of course, he is young, and all young players spiral in and out of form as they adjust to first team football, especially in the Premier League.
But Gordon is nothing short of breath-taking and can be a key figure in the renaissance of Everton Football Club.
The silver lining to the covid situation the Blues find themselves in is the academy prospects that have been given a chance to shine.
Affairs at Everton might be on the bleaker side as things stand but the future is really exciting for the club. Players such as Jarrad Branthwaite, Lewis Dobbin and Ellis Simms who have all been given a chance to shine with all of them impressing when playing.
If you add that list to Demarai Gray, Gordon and Vitaliy Mykolenko to name a few, the future at Everton looks really bright.
Finally the club seems to be forming an identity as they prepare to enter a new era.
