Newcastle United turn attention to Everton left-back Lucas Digne with Kieran Trippier all but signed
Newcastle United now want to sign Lucas Digne from Everton with a deal for Atletico Madrid’s Kieran Trippier all but done, according to The Telegraph.
The newspaper reports that England right-back Trippier will become the first signing of the Saudi Arabian ownership at St James’ Park with the ex-Tottenham ace set to earn around £130,000-a-week.
It is understood that after solving their need for a new right-back, Eddie Howe will turn attention towards the other side of his defence with Digne “one of the next targets” at the Magpies.

Inevitable sale?
After signing Vitaly Mykolenko, Rafa Benitez has two left-backs in his squad and amid widespread reports that he’s fallen out with Digne, it’s likely that the 28-year-old will be on his way.
Everton’s Financial Fair Play issues are widely documented and with Nathan Patterson becoming our second January signing on Tuesday, the club has spent around £30million already.
We’re unsure on how much Digne could fetch the Toffees but there’s a chance that one of the best left-backs in the Premier League would be able to balance the books by going for that amount.

Of course, there’ll be his wages that’ll be wiped from the monthly bills should he move on and a move to Newcastle does seem to make sense with the direction their club is going in.
Newcastle will probably want to utilise their good relationship with Rafa Benitez in order to broker a deal so we’d rate the chances of this deal being done as rather high.
Everton need to sell, the player’s fallen out with the manager and the manager has a good history with the buying club.
It all fits into place, doesn’t it?
