talkSPORT pundit makes Rafa Benitez claim as Everton edge towards major deal
Everton are showing their support for manager Rafa Benitez by signing players for him in January, according to talkSPORT pundit Danny Murphy.
The Toffees have already completed a deal for left-back Vitaly Mykolenko from Dinamo Kyiv, and are closing in on a deal worth up to £16m [Daily Record] for Rangers defender Nathan Patterson too.
With over £30m spent on the two deals, former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy believes the business shows the club are fully behind Benitez despite their poor form.

Speaking live-on-air on talkSPORT, Murphy claimed the deals were good for the club and showed the club’s thinking when it comes to the manager right now.
“I think that’s the main thing you can get from this,” said Murphy. “It shows support and backing for him.
“And, in those particular areas, they do need help in the fullback areas. What does it say about Digne as well?
“He (Patterson) is not playing a lot though at Rangers.”
Bingo
It’s hard to argue with Murphy’s comments and whether you agree or not it shows a clear idea on the Everton board’s behalf.
Benitez was brought in during the summer on a three-year contract and it’s obvious that the hierarchy have no intention of cutting that short.
With that said though, after being backed this winter the excuses will run thin if he doesn’t start to deliver results.
Everton have won just once in their last 12 Premier League games and currently sit closer to the relegation zone than they do the European places in the table.
Benitez has bolstered his defence and it seems as though their business won’t end there, with links to a forward persistent. Rafa is being backed, so now he must deliver results or face even more of a wrath from fans.
