Everton join the race to sign Bruno Guimaraes

Everton have joined the likes of Newcastle United of Arsenal in the race to sign Bruno Guimaraes, according to reports from Evening Standard.

The report claims that the Toffees have observed him closely, while the Gunners have been following the midfielder for some time now.

No club has made a firm offer for Bruno, but Lyon are expected to demand a fee of around £40 million for his signature.

Unreal signing

The Toffees have moved quickly to sign two players already in January, with Vitaliy Mykolenko and Nathan Patterson joining this week.

The Toffees are expected to make one or two signings with Rafa Benitez keen to sculpt the squad to his own image.

Signing a central midfielder is essential among others, and Guimaraes would be a dream signing for the Merseyside club.

Former Brazilian great Juninho hailed him as a “complete midfielder” and someone who “sees things before others”.

He is a tricky box-to-box midfielder. The 24-year-old is an anchor in midfield like Fabinho of Liverpool, and then he has got the ability to pick passes like Kevin de Bruyne.

The Brazilian doesn’t score much, but he is more interested in breaking lines and dominating midfield. In a way, he is a hybrid midfielder who defends aggressively and yet has got incredible passing and dribbling skills.

He is an energetic midfielder who loves to press. Guimaraes won’t come cheap, and the Toffees could struggle to convince him to join Goodison Park as well.
