Everton boss Rafa Benitez speaks for the first time on Mykolenko and Patterson
Rafa Benitez has revealed how new signings Vitaliy Mykolenko and Nathan Patterson will fit in at Everton.
Benitez has been backed financially in the January transfer window after only being afforded £1.7m in the summer window according to The Times.
The Blues acted swiftly in the January window with both their fullback positions needing attention with Digne unhappy at the club and Coleman still fighting but on the decline.

Speaking for the first time on his new signings, Benitez told evertonfc.com:
“If you analyse my teams, they are aggressive, they go on the front foot and press, and try to regain the ball high up the pitch, create chances and score goals,
“And at the same time, keep the balance. Keeping the balance between defence and attack is key for winning something. Not just winning games, winning trophies.
“That is the style I want to install here. Bringing in these two young players with energy, they can go forward and attack is key for the future of the club.”
He added, “Nathan and Vitaliy have the characteristics we are looking for – players who like to go forward and provide crosses to the players up front.”

New era
This is a hugely exciting time for Evertonians. Yes, the football this season hasn’t been great, and the appointment of Benitez has forced a clear divide amongst the fan base, but the overall state of the club only looks to get better.
The surprisingly efficient manner in which the Toffees made the first two signings of the January window should fill the fans with confidence. It outlines a clear strategy and sense of direction at the club, something the Blues have lacked for far too long.
In terms of the players, everybody will be ecstatically waiting to see them in action.
Both players are exactly what the team needs in terms of quality and energy. With the rise in importance of fullbacks so gargantuan over the last few years, it is crucial we have two of our own with huge potential.
Everton will be reliant on Dominic Calvert-Lewin if they are to turn around their season and the appointment of two very offensive fullbacks who are more than capable of delivering crosses will be a huge benefit.
