Everton have ‘enduring desire’ to sign Newcastle star Sean Longstaff – Chris Waugh
Everton are said to have an “enduring desire” to sign Newcastle United star Sean Longstaff in the January window.
That’s according to Chris Waugh, who has shared that Rafa Benitez single-handily wants a reunion with the midfielder.
The Athletic journalist has shared his view on the potential deal with Longstaff entering the final six months of his contract.

Writing in the live feed for The Athletic on Thursday (6th January), Waugh shared the latest on any potential deal.
“Fresh reports emerged overnight regarding both Newcastle’s interest in Lucas Digne and Everton’s enduring desire to sign Sean Longstaff,” he wrote.
“As for Longstaff, he is in the final six months of his deal and Rafa Benitez wants a reunion.”

Needed?
Whether Longstaff is the man is a question that remains, but one thing for certain is that we are desperate for more midfielders.
Behind Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure, things are not working with Fabian Delph and Andre Gomes simply not good or consistent enough.
Longstaff would bring some much-needed youth to the side and could come on the cheap, something that may be needed after splashing out on Nathan Patterson and Vitality Mykolenko.
Benitez knows Longstaff and exactly what he would bring given their time together at St James’ Park, and it will be interesting to see if this one can get done.
This is certainly the next one to watch, which club is going to blink first?
