Kaveh Solhekol shares major Everton ‘problem’ with Lucas Digne exit in January

Kaveh Solhekol has shared a big “problem” facing Everton as they look to sell Lucas Digne in the January window.

Rafa Benitez confirmed on Friday (07th January) that the Frenchman has asked to leave the club before the end of the month.

Solhekol has reported that the Toffees wanting up to £30million could be a stumbling block, with not many, if any, prepared to pay that fee.

Speaking live on Sky Sports’ Transfer Show this evening (07 January), Solhekol shared the big problem facing the Toffees.

“The only problem Everton have is that they spent £18million for Digne three and half years ago, and now they value him at £30million,” he said.

“I don’t think any of those clubs are going to spend £30million on a left-back this month.”

Standoff.

This is a major problem.

Everton are right to demand more than they paid for Digne more than three years ago, as there is no sense in accepting a low-ball offer below that.

Whether £30million is the right amount remains to be seen, with the likelihood of a £25million bid being accepted high.

Clubs such as Chelsea, Newcastle, West Ham and Aston Villa have all been linked with interest in the French international, and they could all pay the demanded fee if they were that desperate [Sky Sports].

There are still three weeks to go so there shouldn’t be any panic at Goodison Park, that may change if no movement is made in the next 14 days, though.

Let’s hope for developments soon.
