Jamie Carragher: Goodison Park ‘favourite’ away ground

Jamie Carragher has made some interesting comments today (8 January) about Everton in a Twitter Q&A session.

The Sky Sports pundit was a die-hard Blues fan before he joined Liverpool as a player. He went to become a club hero, and obviously, with that, his love affair with the Toffees had ended.

There were rumours about Carragher having an Everton tattoo on his arm, which he later denied.

Carragher was asked whether his family still support the other Merseyside club to which he witty replied: “No. We all got our tattoos taken off.”

However, Carragher did reveal that Goodison Park has been his favourite away ground.

Iconic stadium

Goodison Park is an iconic stadium but the Toffees will leave their spiritual home as they are setting up a new stadium at the Bramley-Moore Dock.

Everton fans are known to be very passionate and they can produce a great atmosphere, especially in big games, like the Merseyside derby.

It’s well known that Carragher was a massive Everton fan, and there were rumours that he wore a long-sleeved shirt during matches to cover it.

Everton

Carragher dispelled that myth in his autobiography where he wrote, as quoted by Liverpool Echo: “It’s not true that I’ve got an Everton tattoo on my arm, but I was Everton-mad growing up. How times have changed.”

Everton’s form at Goodison Park this season hasn’t been good. The fans have been very vocal in recent matches and they vented their frustrations during both home and away games.

The Toffees are struggling badly in the Premier League managing just one win in their last 12 games, and big improvements are required.
