Arsenal place Everton attacker Dominic Calvert-Lewin on January shortlist

Arsenal have put Everton attacker Dominic Calvert-Lewin on their shortlist for the January transfer window, according to David Ornstein.

Writing in his Athletic transfer mailbag, he claims that Dusan Vlahovic is the billionaire-owned club’s priority, but Alexander Isak and the Toffees striker are alternatives in case they can’t get that move over the line.

The England international recently returned to action for Rafa Benitez’s side, having missed the majority of the campaign through injury.

Keep at all costs

Everton are already having a nigh on a disastrous campaign and losing two of their best players in the window will be catastrophic.

Lucas Digne appears destined for an exit after his scrap with Rafa Benitez despite him being the club’s most consistent player over the last three seasons.

Calvert-Lewin, who bailed Carlo Ancelotti out on several occasions last season, could do the same with the Spaniard.

Just when Benitez seems to be backed in the transfer market, he would not want his best goal-scoring threat to be sold, no matter the transfer fee.

If the player is desperate to leave, then they could ask him to wait until the summer which would give the club plenty of time to assess their options for the future.

However, as things stand, there’s no chance that the Toffees will allow Calvert-Lewin to leave this month.
