Everton make contact with agent over Aleksandr Golovin

Everton are looking to further strengthen their midfield as they make contact with the agent of AS Monaco star Aleksandr Golovin.

Originally reported by Championat yesterday, Everton are in a battle with West Ham United for the 25-year-old and both clubs have taken the next step to sign him.

Sport Witness is now reporting that both clubs have contacted Golovin’s agent over his client’s future although the club aren’t keen on selling him.

You don’t get a contract at Monaco without being quite some player and Golovin is exactly that.

He joined the principality from CSKA Moscow in 2018 having spent his whole career until then at the Russian giants.

He really came to the forefront during the 2018 Russian World Cup where he starred for his national side, taking them to the quarter-finals of their home tournament.

Now 25, Golovin is ready to take the next step in his career and it is becoming more and more likely that it will be in England.

West Ham may be the more exciting prospect right now with the Hammers fighting for a Champions League place but any new signing would likely be sat on the bench behind Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek.

That is where Everton can pounce with their own midfield of Abdoulaye Doucoure and Allan not performing at the same kind of level.

Interest in Allan from Serie A side Lazio compounds the Toffees’ need for a new central midfielder and Golovin would be an exciting addition at Goodison Park.
