Everton yet to agree fee for Aston Villa attacker Anwar El Ghazi

Everton are yet to agree a fee with Aston Villa to sign attacker Anwar El Ghazi in the January transfer window, according to Rob Dorsett.

The Sky Sports journalist claims that the Toffees want to sign the 26-year-old Netherlands international on loan, but Villa want a permanent sale.

They’re said to value him at £15million and while negotiations are progressing, there’s still some room left.

Dorsett wrote, via his personal Twitter account, “EFC interested in a loan deal for #avfc Anwar El Ghazi. Villa value him at £15m, if any club wants to buy. Not connected to Digne negotiations – progression there I’m told, but fee still to be agreed.”

Best option there?

While the club must have a streamlined process to get deals done and pick transfer targets, there remain doubts about El Ghazi.

Technically, Everton are the bigger club and have been more successful than Villa over the past few years.

To see them signing a player who’s being deemed surplus because of Philippe Coutinho’s arrival means that they’ve accepted mediocrity.

After signing two quality full-backs this month, to then show an interest in El Ghazi is a tad underwhelming.

Toffees fans would’ve hoped that they would sign a better calibre of player now that Marcel Brands has been shown the door.

However, signings like El Ghazi are in the Alex Iwobi bracket and he may not even be an upgrade on the likes of Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend.

In other Everton news, the club want to sign a player labelled ‘Excellent’ by Cristiano Ronaldo with the European club keen on cashing in.
