Anwar El Ghazi shares his first message with fans as an Everton player

New Everton loan signing, Anwar El Ghazi, has taken to social media to share his first message to the Blues fans.

It was announced this evening (January 13) that the 26-year-old is to play the remainder of the season on Merseyside, for the Toffees.

If desired, Everton have the chance to sign the winger permanently for within the region of £8.4million according to Fabrizio Romano.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, El Ghazi wrote: “Very happy and excited for this great opportunity.”

Unnecessary?

The signing of El Ghazi is slightly underwhelming from an Everton perspective.

It is completely impossible to say how well he will do on Merseyside with the announcement being made a matter of hours ago, but he doesn’t strike you as a player that will come in and make a huge impact.

Two of the Blues’ stand out performers in recent weeks have been Demarai Gray and Anthony Gordon who both share the Aston Villa man’s position.

It would be a huge shame if the development of these and potentially other Everton players was put on hold thanks to a fairly unnecessary loan deal.

It would be interesting to see how much Lucas Digne’s move in the opposite direction has to do with this deal, with it being difficult to see it being done without it.

Anyway, he is a Toffees player from now until the end of the season at least and everyone at the club must get behind him.
