Everton may be more hesitant to part ways with Rafa Benitez amid their FFP concerns.

That’s according to Dr Daniel Plumley who claims that the compensation he will be owed could make the hierarchy reconsider any decision.

Under Carlo Ancelotti, the club loosened their purse strings and then director of football Marcel Brands oversaw a number of inflated transfer deals.

While the players that walked through the door but of a better ilk, the results on the field did not show any marked improvement.

Discussing the ramifications of sacking Benitez, the Sheffield Hallam University expert told Goodison News, “You’re looking at compensation fees primarily.

“We know the cost of firing and hiring managers can be quite high.

“If you’re gonna fire then you have to see how much compensation will Benitez be owed.

“FFP could have a major impact on that decision.”

As things stand, Benitez is understood to have the unwavering support of Farhad Moshiri.

The club have made three signings in January thus far, two of whom have come in on big transfer fees.

In other Everton news, the club want to sign a player labelled ‘Excellent’ by Cristiano Ronaldo with the European club keen on cashing in.
