Newcastle join Everton in race to sign AS Monaco midfielder Aleksandr Golovin

Newcastle have reportedly entered the race to sign AS Monaco midfielder Aleksandr Golovin who’s also linked with a move to Everton.

According to Russian media outlet Meta Ratings, West Ham are also keen on securing the 25-year-old’s services in January.

Monaco are aware of the interest in the Russia international and while they did not want to sell him this month, a lucrative offer could make them change their minds.

Golovin, who has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past, may finally see himself playing in the division this season.

Worth signing

The AS Monaco attacking midfielder is a joy to watch on his day and shows the maturity of a seasoned professional.

He’s got the ability to play through balls and cut open defences – something that nobody in the current squad does.

Add to that, he’s also got experience of not just the Champions League but also being one of the stars at the 2018 World Cup.

This experience comes in handy at an Everton side that appears to be bereft of any real winners.

Golovin has been referred to as “sensational” by the Ligue 1 website and that’s a fair assessment given the quality he possesses.

Whether or not Everton make a concrete offer to buy him remains to be seen, but he will clearly add something different to the current Toffees setup.
