Tammy Abraham reacts as El Ghazi joins Everton from Villa
Dutch attacker Anwar El Ghazi has taken to his personal Instagram account to react after joining Everton from Aston Villa yesterday.
The 26-year-old moved to Goodison Park on loan for the rest of the season on Thursday (13 January), and he has received a lot of goodwill messages from his mates, including AS Roma hitman Tammy Abraham.
The England international striker and El Ghazi played together at Villa Park, and he has wished the latter the best of luck on Merseyside.
Abraham said in reaction to the move: “Good luck, bro.”
The Villa forward is Rafa Benitez’s third signing of the January transfer window, joining Vitalii Mykolenko and Nathan Patterson after Lucas Digne moved in the opposite direction.
He had fallen out of favour under both erstwhile Villans boss Dean Smith and Steven Gerrard this season, starting just four times in the Premier League and coming off the bench five times.
El Ghazi has scored three goals and assisted another three in 12 games across all competitions in 2021-22, and Benitez will be hoping to get the best out of the player who bagged 10 league goals last term.
Injuries have beleaguered Everton all campaign, and having another attacking option is a breath of fresh air.
Nevertheless, he will need a lot of luck on Merseyside as the Toffees could soon find themselves in a relegation battle.
They need to start scoring more and winning after just five victories all campaign, and El Ghazi needs to find his form to help them.
He could be thrown immediately into action when they visit Norwich City on Saturday (15 January), and he can endear himself to the fans by hitting the ground running and helping Everton to victory.
