Everton launch first official approach to appoint Roberto Martinez – report

Everton have launched their official approach to appoint Roberto Martinez as their new manager, according to The Telegraph.

The newspaper has reported on their website that talks regarding compensation are set to follow with the Belgian FA with the deal said to be “imminent”.

It is reported that it would be a “remarkable” return for Martinez, who was the first manager sacked during the reign of Farhad Moshiri.

Martinez is said to be keen on the return to Merseyside, which means negotiations could prove to be smooth.

There was talk of the Belgian manager also keeping his role at international level alongside the Toffees job, something that now looks unlikely.

With the deal now said to be imminent, it looks as though Moshiri is wasting no time in making his decision this time around.

Another gamble.

It looks as though Farhad Moshiri may not have learned his lesson.

There will never be a bigger gamble than handing the job to Rafa Benitez, former Liverpool gaffer the job at Goodison Park, but this may come close.

Martinez enjoyed that one brilliant season in Merseyside, taking us to fifth but then struggled thereafter and was ultimately sacked.

What makes Moshiri think it could be different this time around with the club in more turmoil than ever?

If this doesn’t work, there could be serious pressure on the head of Moshiri and the entire board from us, the fans, who have had to put up with this for far too long.

A deal is imminent, and it looks as though it could even happen before Aston Villa come to town on Saturday.
