Everton make contact with Nuno Espirito Santo again to replace Rafa Benitez

Everton have made contact with Nuno Espirito Santo once again to replace Rafa Benitez, according to AS.

The Spanish outlet has reported that the Toffees made their move after almost appointing the Portuguese man in the summer.

It is suggested that Nuno will reject the offer, though, and will take a few months off after being sacked by Spurs.

This would make sense given that the Toffees were close to appointing Nuno in the summer and contacts can be re-established quickly.

Born on the African island of Sao Tome and Principe, Nuno made a name for himself with Wolves, guiding them to the Premier League and the Europa League.

Given that a rejection is already in the pipeline though, it looks as though other options are more likely.

Those names include Roberto Martinez, who looks like the clear frontrunner as things stand at Goodison Park.

Given our current state from top to bottom, this is something that we all may have to get used to at Goodison Park.

The likes of Graham Potter have already been linked and then reported not to be interested, so this now makes it two.

Nuno was chewed up and spat out by Spurs, who were ruthless getting rid of him after less time in the job than Rafa had with the Toffees.

Is that a good sign? Not at all.

Having said that, Nuno would come with a clear style and that is something that we have lacked for years at Goodison Park.

A quick decision is expected, so more developments are surely set in the coming days.
