Everton board members push for Wayne Rooney as Roberto Martinez deal collapses

Some Everton board members are said to be pushing Wayne Rooney forward for their vacant managers role, according to The Telegraph.

The newspaper report on their website that the boyhood Blue is favoured by some after seeing a deal for Roberto Martinez collapse in the past 24 hours.

Currently, at Derby County, the case of Rooney is said to be pushed hard by many in high positions at Goodison Park.

Martinez looks to be a very difficult deal, and there is the possibility that he is revisited further down the line.

Farhad Moshiri is clearly a big fan despite the Spaniard being the first manager he sacked after he arrived at the club.

Martinez is the only manager to taste any relative success in terms of European football in recent years, but that didn’t last long.

New start?

Moshiri looks to be falling into old ways again when really he needs to think outside of the box and kickstart a new era.

The Toffees are going into a new stadium and relegation from the Premier League would be a complete disaster.

Having said that, we still don’t see that happening as things stand, and if someone such as Rooney can come in and make the players start believing again, that’s what we need.

Rooney has done a sensational job with Derby, but does that warrant a big Premier League job such as the Toffees?

We’ve tried everything else, and having a big name at the helm regardless of experience may be exactly what these players need.
