Everton set to interview Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney for manager role – report

Everton are set to hand interviews to Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard in the near future, according to The Telegraph.

Bill Kenwright is said to be taking a leading role in the hunt alongside Farhad Moshiri, as they look to replace Rafa Benitez.

The newspaper have reported on their website that the Toffees now have a four-strong list of candidates at Goodison Park.

It is said that Rooney would need an official agreement from Derby at this moment in time.

Given their struggles, it is uncertain whether or not that would come from administrators at Pride Park.

Lampard has been out of work since leaving Chelsea last year, too, after completing a successful spell at Derby himself.

Clear vision.

Is this the way forward for the Toffees now? We have tried the huge managerial names such as Rafa Benitez and Carlo Ancelotti.

That didn’t work, so could young up and coming English managers be the road that Kenwright and Moshiri want to go down?

It would signal change, and that is much needed at Goodison Park after years of turmoil with no consistency whatsoever.

Lampard has the Premier League experience, something Rooney doesn’t have, but he does have the ties to the club that cover for that.

Talks are set to take place, expect developments within the next week.
