Everton ‘still’ want to sign Donny Van de Beek in January – report
Everton are ‘still’ interested in signing Donny Van de Beek in January and the manager situation may not matter, according to Alex Crook.
The Toffees had a loan bid rejected on deadline day in the summer for the Dutch midfielder with Manchester United keen to keep him and assuring him of more first-team opportunities this season.
That hasn’t happened though, with the 24-year-old yet to start in the Premier League this season.
Now Alex Crook, who works for talkSPORT, has claimed that there is ‘still interest’ from the Blues in signing him this month and that the lack of a manager right now may not matter as owner Farhad Moshiri likes to be hands on anyway.
“I think it’s going to be an interesting last couple of weeks at Old Trafford. He was close to joining Everton in the summer but United blocked that deal.
“There is still interest from the Toffees, will it depend on who replaces Rafa Benitez? Maybe not, because Farhad Moshiri still likes to take a lot of control when it comes to transfers at that particular football club.”

Needed
This is the type of deal that Everton should be looking to do this winter and if they can get it over the line then it would be a huge boost to the football club.
Van de Beek is a player with a huge point to prove but more importantly, great quality that would improve the Everton side in an area that really needs bolstering.
His eye for pass, movement and determination have seen him described as ‘close to perfect‘ by Owen Hargreaves in the past and he’s shown in the past that he is a good goalscorer too.
Everton are in trouble in the league, sitting 16th right now with just one win in 13 games which led to the sacking of Benitez.
They currently sit just six points above the relegation zone, although they do have some games in hand over some of the teams below them.
