Paul Joyce shares Farhad Moshiri stance on Everton hiring Wayne Rooney as manager
Wayne Rooney does not have the required amount of experience that Everton owner Farhad Moshiri usually looks for in a manager, according to Times journalist Paul Joyce.
Writing on The Times’ website [18 January], Joyce reports that the Belgian FA have blocked a move for Roberto Martinez while Frank Lampard is reportedly on the Blues’ shortlist.
Rooney, who had two spells as a player at Goodison Park, also seems to be a contender but doesn’t tick all the boxes for Moshiri.

Does it matter that much?
Let’s face it, the experienced heads of Sam Allardyce, Carlo Ancelotti and Rafa Benitez have failed to impress at Goodison Park so why not go with a different approach?
Lampard did a decent job at Chelsea, setting up a team that ended up winning the Champions League under Thomas Tuchel’s charge after doing a good job at Derby.
Rooney’s not been in management for long but he’s hardly a million miles behind Lampard.

And Rooney’s also pulling off a minor miracle in the East Midlands with the Rams, who are in such good form that despite their 21-point deduction, they may still be able to avoid relegation from the Championship.
Rooney knows the club, he loves the club, he’s got connections, he can offer a fresh approach and way of thinking and he’s doing well at Derby.
Why not go for him?
What has Moshiri done at Goodison that suggests his way of finding managers works? Because, let’s face it, it doesn’t.
In other Everton news, a Blues shareholder is seemingly at odds with Moshiri over Rooney.
