Everton miss out on Jose Mourinho as next manager
There is “no way” Jose Mourinho will be the next Everton manager, reports Kaveh Solhekol, after Farhad Moshiri was “contemplating” an approach.
The Sky Sports man reports that while the former Tottenham manager will not leave Roma, Vitor Pereira is in the running for the top job at Goodison.
Speaking live on The Transfer Show on Sky Sports News on Tuesday (18 January 06.30pm), Solhekol said: “Jose Mourinho is now under consideration to become the next Everton manager. An official approach has yet to made to Mourinho’s current club Roma.

The journalist called former Tottenham boss Mourinho “one of the elite managers in world football” and went on to say: “You can see why certain people at Everton would be interested in appointing somebody like Jose Mourinho.”
But by 7pm, he was reporting that: “We can say very, very confidently that there is no way Jose Mourinho is going to leave Roma.
“He is fully committed to Roma and he is fully backed by Roma’s owners and directors.”
Big names not interested
When the report came out that the owner wanted the three-time Premier League winner it immediately sounded like a risk, considering the diminishing returns that the Portuguese manager has been delivering since he left Chelsea for the second time.
With a reputation for leaving clubs in turmoil the twice European Champion would not seem to be the answer for the current situation at Goodison.
Although he is not enjoying huge success in Serie A currently, he is by no means the man you turn to when you are facing a potential relegation battle with a poor atmosphere around the club.

However, that the news coming out from his direction was so quickly dismissive of the possibility of a return to the Premier League is probably not a good sign for Moshiri.
The owner runs the risk of having his judgment called into even further question if he continues to consider candidates that are surely not the answer, as with Roberto Martinez, and then fails to attract them anyway.
At this point, continuing with Duncan Ferguson looks to be the most popular as well as potentially the most sensible option.
In other Everton news, this fan favourite should leave the club if the right appointment isn’t made according to a club legend.
