Everton ready to hand Jose Mourinho juicy deal

Everton want a new boss after sacking Rafa Benitez, and the chosen one is AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho, according to Spanish outlet El Nacional.

The Toffees would offer the Portuguese a very juicy salary in order to convince him to leave for Goodison Park, and they are ready to hand him more than the £13million-a-year wages he earned at Real Madrid.

Mourinho’s future at Roma is in doubt following a poor start to the season, and given that he does not feel at home in Italy, a return to England could be on the cards.

Everton are now hoping their offer is enough to lure the 58-year-old back to the English top-flight.

Farhad Moshiri loves to make high-profile signings, and it would not be particularly surprising if he wants to bring the former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur boss back to England.

Everton deserve better without a doubt, though, but there are some at the club that are apparently pushing for his appointment.

Landing the Portuguese will not come easy as they will need to part with compensation to get Roma to release him.

Coupled with his huge wages, Everton will be spending millions to get a deal done, but it appears they have not learnt from some of their past decisions that have put them in their current mess.

Mourinho has an impressive track record and is still regarded as one of the best in the job in some quarters, but his recent struggles say otherwise.

The Toffees need someone who can take them to the next level, and that does not look like the former Real Madrid boss.

They need to be looking at better options, and a lot of fans will most likely be disappointed should they make such an underwhelming appointment.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are plotting January loan-to-buy bid for centre-mid hailed by Jack Grealish last month.
