Michael Owen predicts result of Everton v Aston Villa
It’s a new start at Goodison Park following the departure of Rafa Benitez as Everton take on Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday (22 January).
Duncan Ferguson will be in the dugout for the game and will look to bring out the pride and passion among the players, with Michael Owen suggesting that he expects the Toffees to play with a lot more energy.
Everton have picked up just one win in their last 13 Premier League games, and the former England striker has predicted a 1-1 draw while writing his column for Bet Victor.
Owen wrote: “It’s a new era at Goodison Park. Duncan Ferguson is in temporary charge again and will look to inject some life back into the club.
“It’s been a difficult season for them and the fans especially, have been unhappy. I’d expect Everton to play with a lot more energy here and Goodison will be rocking.
“Villa showed both the belief and quality that Steven Gerrard has instilled in them already against Man United last week.
“This is a tough one to call. I’m going for a 1-1 draw here.”
While Everton are still in the process of appointing a new permanent boss, Ferguson will be hoping to get some wins and bring the confidence back at the club.
The players will be charged up to do well after a disappointing spell under the Spaniard.
Aston Villa are a good side under Steven Gerrard, and it remains to be seen whether the visitors can handle the Goodison Park atmosphere that is expected to be electric today.
Jordan Pickford revealed earlier this week (20 January) that the training has been intense but fun, and it’s up to the players now to deliver on the pitch.
We can expect a high tempo game from the home side. With Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison back, there’s no reason to believe why the Toffees cannot pick up all three points from this game.
