Everton shareholder furious with Moshiri as Vitor Pereira interview held

Independent Everton shareholder Mike Parry has blasted Farhad Moshiri after it was reported that talks over the manager’s job have been held with Vitor Pereira.

The Daily Mail reported on Sunday night [07:28pm] that the Blues have interviewed the 53-year-old Portuguese manager, who’s currently out of a job after he was sacked by Fenerbahce last month.

It is understood that Everton owner Moshiri is willing to go with a left-field approach to hire Rafa Benitez’s successor at Goodison Park.

But ex-talkSPORT host Parry feels as though Moshiri only wants a European manager in charge to make the Toffees sound like a bigger club.

Writing via his personal Twitter account in an instant reaction to the news about Pereira, Parry said: “And who on earth is Vitor Pereira?

“It looks like our owner Mr Moshiri is once again determined to try and appoint a new manager who has a continental-sounding name.

“It makes us look like a bigger club doesn’t it.”

We don’t want Pereira.

Yes, it’s a left-field hire and yes, he has had some success in his managerial career.

But we really want to see some kind of long-term plan in place at Goodison Park and with Pereira, we just really don’t see that happening.

Pereira has had 10 different manager jobs in his career and in that time, he’s spent less than a year at three of them.

Fenerbahce got rid of him for a second time in December, just five months after hiring him.

He’s also had spells in management in China and Saudi Arabia. It was Shanghai SIPG where he had his longest spell at a club (three years).

Pereira’s been interviewed for the Everton job already in his career and was overlooked then – so what makes him a better option now?

We don’t usually agree with Parry but in this case, we do.

Moshiri cannot hire Pereira.

In other Everton news, contact has been made with the agent of a manager who “ticks all the boxes” for the Toffees.
