Vitor Pereira new ‘front-runner’ for Everton manager’s job – report
Former Porto and Olympiacos boss Vitor Pereira is the new ‘front-runner’ for the vacant Everton manager’s job according to talkSPORT.
Everton sacked Rafa Benitez last week and have been searching for a replacement ever since, with Roberto Martinez originally the number one target [talkSPORT].
But with a deal not possible to do, the club have now pivoted and talkSPORT claim that Portuguese boss Pereira is the new ‘top contender’ for the job at Goodison Park after he impressed Farhad Moshiri during his interview.

Pereira made his reputation with Porto in the Portuguese top-flight, winning the league twice between 2011 and 2013 before going on to win the Greek Super League with Olympiacos in 2015.
He has also won the Chinese Super League, before moving to Fenerbahce. He was sacked after just five months in December and is currently a free agent.
Left-field
Pereira’s name had been briefly mentioned right at the start as a candidate, but it seemed as though he had been left behind in the process.
Fabio Cannavaro and Frank Lampard had interviews already, while Wayne Rooney was linked with the role heavily. But the Derby coach is said to be keen to stay at Pride Park to help them survive.

Pereira plays attacking football but his overall career record has not been that impressive, getting sacked quickly at several jobs and spending less than a year in charge at five different sides.
Everton need someone who can get them out of a hole as they currently sit 16th in the league with one win in their last 14 games.
Whether Pereira is the man for that is hard to tell, but it seems as though Everton have made their choice and he will be tasked with keeping them in the division.
