Everton late January contenders to sign Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele

Everton are in the hunt to seal a last-gasp loan deal for Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, according to Kaveh Solhekol.

Speaking on Sky Sports News’ Transfer Show on Tuesday night, Solhekol reported that the Blues are keen on signing the 25-year-old France international on loan.

However, it is understood that Ndombele would rather move to France and Paris Saint-Germain are favourites to complete a deal at this stage.

“This one’s a bit of a wildcard one,” said Solhekol live on Sky Sports News’ Transfer Show on Tuesday night [25 January, 05:16pm].

Solhekol added, as shown in a clip on Football Daily’s Twitter account: “I was told this afternoon that Everton were also one of the clubs who were interested in taking him on loan.

“But I think as far as the player is concerned, it’s much more likely that he will want to return to France to PSG, who I think are in pole position, if he is to leave Spurs.

“Bit of interest from Everton as well.”

Out of the blue

Solhekol’s right, Everton are wildcards in the bid to sign Ndombele.

At this stage, we don’t expect to see the Blues strike a deal for the former Lyon central midfielder.

Ndombele hasn’t had a great time at Tottenham but he’s still a France international who’ll want to be playing anywhere but in a relegation battle.

Everton are managerless and also have no director of football – so who would be signing Ndombele?

Of course, Farhad Moshiri and Kia Joorabchian are bound to be involved if we do seal any last-gasp transfers in January.

The deadline is less than a week away but with Financial Fair Play issues, should we really be signing anyone?
