David Ornstein: Farhad Moshiri yet to make final decision on Everton job
Farhad Moshiri is still weighing up options for the Everton vacant job, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic.
Widespread reports suggested that former Fenerbahce boss Vitor Pereira is emerging as favourites for the managerial job after Rafa Benitez was sacked.
However, as of now, the Toffees are yet to make a final decision.
Frank Lampard is still “very much” in contention for the role. Ornstein wrote on Twitter:
The 46-year-old British manager has been out of work since leaving Chelsea a year ago. He was sacked following a poor run of form but it seems he is now looking to return to management.
The former England midfielder did a decent job at Chelsea where he took the Blues to fourth in the Premier League, and played a crucial role in developing several young talents at the club.
The Chelsea legend also did a brilliant job at Derby County and has a fair bit of experience.
Pereira may have more managerial experience than Lampard, but the Toffees can hardly afford to make a gamble here.
Already a lot of damage has been done this season with a wrong appointment. The club have spent ridiculous money on players, but there hasn’t been enough progress.
It’s time Everton put a strong structure in place and create a proper vision for the future.
Duncan Ferguson has taken over in the caretaker role but the club should look to appoint a full-time manager before the end of the transfer window.
