Everton striker Ellis Simms has travelled to Hearts on Wednesday for medical

Everton striker Ellis Simms is heading towards Scotland to join Hearts on loan, according to reports from The Athletic.

The report claims that Simms has travelled to Edinburg on Wednesday to undergo a medical ahead of the move.

The 21-year-old has recently signed a new contract at Goodison Park.

Good decision

Simms is very highly-rated at Goodison Park and he also played in the 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge earlier this season.

However, he has struggled for regular game time, even when Dominic Calvert-Lewin was out injured.

Earlier this month, The Athletic claimed that Derby County were also interested in signing the young striker.

As it stands, Hearts appear to have won the race for his signature and he will join them shortly.

Simms spent a successful season on loan at Blackpool last season where he scored 10 goals in 23 appearances for the club.

Everton have been left impressed at how Beni Baningime is developing at the Scottish club, and they are encouraged to send the youngster on loan to Hearts where he is expected to get regular games.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin back to full fitness, and Salomon Rondon acting as a deputy, Simms would struggle to feature regularly this season, and a move away thus makes a lot of sense.
