Everton want to appoint a new manager with transfer deadline in mind
Everton want a new manager in place before the weekend – particularly given the transfer window closes on Monday night, according to Daily Mail.
No appointment is imminent at Goodison Park, but should fresh talks with Frank Lampard go well, he could find himself in pole position to land the job ahead of Vitor Pereira.
The 43-year-old has emerged as a lead candidate to replace Rafa Benitez, and discussions will accelerate over the next 24 hours as the Toffees look to a decision pretty soon.
No time
Everton want to be done with an appointment by Friday, and that is understandable with just a few days left in the January market.
Whoever comes in needs time to get a couple of deals done, and the earlier things can be wrapped up, the better for him and the club.

From the look of things, Lampard could emerge as their next permanent manager, but both parties clearly still have a lot to thrash out, hence the further talks after the initial round of discussions some days ago.
The Blues have added three players to their ranks this month, with Nathan Patterson, Vitalii Mykolenko and Anwar El Ghazi arriving from Rangers, Dynamo Kyiv and Aston Villa, respectively.
However, the next manager could be keen on one or two more signings, and getting him in before the weekend makes a lot of sense.
Should that happen, Everton could be very busy on transfer deadline day come Monday, and some outgoings could also be on the cards should the boss go ahead with some immediate squad reshaping.
