View: Frank Lampard an ‘obsessive’ boss with Everton interview planned

Frank Lampard is the leading contender to become the next permanent Everton manager with Duncan Ferguson reluctant to take the role full time.

The Chelsea legend managed the blues up until the middle of last season when he was sacked in favour of Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge.

He has been offered a second interview at Goodison Park as he moves into the lead of the race for the Everton hot seat [The Telegraph].

In an interview with Sky Sports, he revealed what he is like as a manager and Everton fans, and players, should take note.

“I’m determined for improvement and that’s myself as much as the players, which leads me on to being a bit obsessive,” Lampard said.

“I know it sounds strange, but it’s something that I had as a player. I obsessed about how I could get better.

“After those two quite strong words, I would say calm. I try to be calm and I think it is important to stay level-headed in victory and defeat.”

And that is exactly what Everton need right now.

For all the trophies that Vitor Pereira may have won in his career, he is yet to be properly challenged in a top five league and Lampard’s knowledge of the Premier League is vital.

Everton can’t afford to take too big of a risk in there current predicament and Lampard is perhaps the least risky appointment they can make.

The latest developments suggest that the former England international is now the hot favourite to take over from Ferguson, but the Scot is still expected to be in charge for the Toffees’ next game.
