Wayne Rooney rejects Everton interview for manager role – report
Wayne Rooney has declined the chance to be part of the interview process to become the new Everton manager, according to The Mirror.
The Toffees have been searching for a new manager ever since sacking Rafa Benitez following a 2-1 defeat to Norwich earlier this month.
Rooney was immediately named as one of the favourites for the role but as time has gone on, other names have seemingly overtaken him in the running.
According to The Mirror, this is by his own choice rather than the club’s. They say that on Friday [Jan 28] the club will re-interview their final shortlisted target and Rooney was set to be part of that.
However the former England and Manchester United striker has rejected the process, as he is ‘reluctant to enter into a beauty pageant’.
Finally
It’s been a long time coming but we’re finally coming towards the end of this long, drawn out process to get a new manager in.
Rooney’s rejection of the role is no surprise and the reason is clear for all to see as true, the whole process has been a shambles from start to finish.

Fans have shown their anger at the club by protesting against an appointment that hadn’t even been made yet, while rumours continued to swirl linking a host of names to the club.
Ultimately, Rooney’s decision is probably the right one for him and the club. He is greatly inexperienced and at Derby currently he has the freedom of a ‘free hit’ should the club get relegated, considering all the goings on there.
Everton are narrowing their hunt down and Rooney has ruled himself out. He’ll be Everton manager one day, but it won’t be tomorrow,
