Everton in last-gasp talks to sign Donny van de Beek on loan from Manchester United

Everton are in last-ditch talks to secure the loan signing of Donny van de Beek from Manchester United before the transfer window closes on Monday, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster reports that the Blues are in discussions over a loan deal for the 24-year-old central midfielder.

It is understood that Man United are willing to allow van de Beek leave on a straight loan deal as long as there’s a fee involved, plus the Dutch international’s wages being paid in full.

When Man United signed van de Beek in September 2020 from Ajax, De Telegraaf reported that the midfielder will be earning £108,000-a-week at Old Trafford.

Last-gasp business

As it seems as though Frank Lampard is going to be the next manager at Goodison Park, is there finally someone making calls in regards to transfers?

After a busy start to the month that saw Nathan Patterson, Vitaly Mykolenko and Anwar El Ghazi head to Goodison Park, the sacking of Rafa Benitez has led to an understandable lull in transfer activity.

If Everton had kept on someone like Marcel Brands, we could have continued to do business and strengthen a squad that is weak in so many areas while a new manager was brought in.

But the two weeks without a manager has halted any incomings.

However, with Lampard now seemingly on his way in, there’s someone who can sanction ins and outs.

Van de Beek may have been discussed by Farhad Moshiri, Bill Kenwright and Lampard on Friday and signing the Dutchman does make sense.

We’re crying out for an improved central midfield and van de Beek may be able to help out in that regard.

He’ll have a lot to prove in order to show he’s worth a starting spot at Old Trafford or to sell himself for a permanent move in the summer.

Either way, we’d be happy to have him on board.

In other Everton news, a fourth manager could make a last-ditch play for the job at Goodison.
