Everton make formal offer to Frank Lampard

Everton have reportedly made a formal offer to appoint Frank Lampard as their next manager.

According to The Times’ Paul Joyce, the club are in discussions with the former Chelsea boss and captain.

He claims that these negotiations are likely to end in the next 24 hours and Sunday could be when he’s finalised to be the new Toffees manager.

Via his personal Twitter account, he said, “Everton have formally offered Frank Lampard the manager’s job. Negotiations ongoing and expect to be concluded in next 24 hours.”

Right move?

Of all the names that have been linked closely, Lampard appears to seem the safest pair of hands.

Chelsea was a step too big for him at that stage in his career and Everton could be just about where he is as a manager.

One thing that will work in his favour would be that a number of the players will have watched him play during their formative years.

This will instantly make them respect him more and he’s known to be a great communicator as well.

Tactically, he had been found wanting at Chelsea, but one thing he’ll guarantee is quick and expansive football.

That’s something that has been missing at Goodison Park for a while and hopefully, Super Frank can ring in the good times again.
