Everton manager elect Frank Lampard could bring Ross Barkley from Chelsea

Frank Lampard could eye a reunion with and a see Ross Barkley return to Everton in January, according to The Telegraph.

The report claims that as winger Anwar El Ghazi has been added, there’s just one spot left on the Toffees’ Premier League squad for this season.

That spot could be filled by the England international who was a boyhood Evertonian.

Stay away

We get the sentimental value in bringing Barkley back and it may get the fans excited for a while, but that’s about it.

As a player, it makes absolutely no sense to bring in the 28-year-old back to Goodison Park.

The Englishman has not kicked on as he would’ve wanted from his move to Stamford Bridge.

If anything, he’s stagnated as a player and has had a terrible time with injuries over the last few years.

Everton

Neil Warnock calling him a “phenomenal” talent in 2020, but we fail to agree with his assessment and the former Premier League manager too would eat those words if posed the question again.

Barkley is best suited at a club with low expectations because at Everton the bar is going to be unexpectedly high and he’s not quite there to meet it.

The club need to go for someone in their peak who would actually be an upgrade on their current playing eleven.
