Alan Myers reports Frank Lampard announcement due in ‘coming hours’

Frank Lampard’s official appointment as the new Everton boss appears to be imminent as an announcement is reportedly expected today, says Alan Myers.

The prospective new Toffees boss was reported by the Telegraph’s Jason Burt on Twitter to be on Merseyside with his agents to sign his contract earlier today.

And with the former Chelsea star apparently making his presence known in the clubs transfer dealings, developments are going “very well” according to Myers.

The Liverpool Echo’s Christopher Beesley reported in the last hour that Lampard was key to the club’s late bid for Donny van de Beek, and The Daily Star last night reported that the new manager had made Dominic Calvert-Lewin central to his future plans, blocking a prospective exit to Arsenal.

Sky Sports man Myers has now reported on his personal Twitter account: “I’m told everything is going “very well“ to bring Frank Lampard to Everton as manager, announcement expected in the coming hours”.

Almost there

Is has been an excruciating couple of weeks since the toxic reign of Rafael Benitez finally came to an end following a miserable loss to bottom side Norwich.

Owner Farhad Moshiri apparently did now have a plan in place for the eventuality, and what followed made a mockery of the club as name after name emerged.

Former boss Roberto Martinez inexplicably was the preferred choice, but Belgium would not allow his exit, and since then it has only been the former Derby and Chelsea man Lampard who has remained in the conversation throughout, with the exception of caretaker manager Duncan Ferguson.

Everton Farhad Moshiri

It appeared the owner’s favourite was Vitor Pereira as recently as the start of this week, but fan protests and an ill-advised phone interview live on Sky Sports News seem to have put pay to his chances.

Fans will be desperate for some order to be restored by Chelsea’s record goalscorer as results need to improve quickly on the pitch for the positive feeling to continue.

In other Everton news, the new manager could reportedly look to bring in this PL star.
