Dele Alli will still join Everton, medical underway despite Newcastle United interest – Fabrizio Romano
TalkSPORT journalist Alex Crook says that Newcastle United have not made a late approach to hijack Everton in their bid to sign Dele Alli from Tottenham.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported earlier on deadline day today (31 January) that Newcastle were making a “dramatic” late move to hijack Everton’s hopes of signing Alli, 25, from Spurs.
However, Crook reported via his personal Twitter account [08:03pm] that no move has been made from St James’ Park and Fabrizio Romano added that Alli’s medical at Everton is still ongoing.
Romano also said that it’s a long medical but this is normal.
It is understood that there are no problems and that “he’s going to join Everton”.
Clock is ticking
Everton, at the time of writing, have less than three hours to wrap up any remaining business this month.
Donny van de Beek has arrived on loan from Manchester United and Frank Lampard has been appointed as our new manager. You would have to say that so far, it’s been a good day at Goodison Park.
If we add Alli to the side too, that will be a brilliant way to end the transfer window.

If you look at January as a whole, it’s been a very good month.
We would have preferred Lucas Digne to stay but Nathan Patterson, van de Beek and Alli seem like very good and very clever signings by the Blues.
We’re still very angry with the way the club is being run by Farhad Moshiri but he’s moved to repair the relationship with the fans with the appointment of Lampard and the last-ditch deals for van de Beek and Alli.
Hopefully Romano’s right and Newcastle don’t lure Alli to the North-East.
But with the clock ticking, we doubt it’ll be possible for the Magpies to come in now and steal the midfielder away from us.
In other Everton news, Alan Myers has suggested a player is going to leave Goodison Park before the deadline tonight at 11pm.
