Van de Beek struggled for playing opportunities at Old Trafford but will now look to break into Everton first XI under their soon-to-be new boss.

The former Ajax star has not particularly impressed since switching the Eredivisie for the Premier League, and he will be keen to prove himself at Goodison Park.

He was close to joining Everton on loan in the summer and is now set to finally get his wish after a torrid first half of the season with his parent club.

Lampard will be hoping he can hit the ground running on Merseyside following their tumultuous start to the campaign under Rafa Benitez, and landing VbB should come in handy.

Everton are currently thin in the middle of the park following injuries to Abdoulaye Doucoure and Fabian Delph, and the expected arrival of the Dutchman should be a boost.
