Everton have ‘made a move’ to sign Idrissa Gueye from PSG – report
Everton have ‘made a move’ for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Idrissa Gueye to try and re-sign him before deadline day, according to Simon Johnson.
The Toffees are on the verge of completing a loan move for Manchester United midfielder Donny Van de Beek, but new manager Frank Lampard wants to bolster his squad even more.
According to Johnson of The Athletic, Everton have made a move for their former player to help aid that.
However, in the same tweet, Johnson says that a deal is ‘unlikely’ as of last night however anything can happen on deadline day.
There were no fees or structures of deals reported to add to that, with the 33-year-old currently earning £110,000-per-week in Paris, according to Marca last year.
Intriguing
This is a transfer that is very intriguing considering the midfield options already at the club.
Lampard clearly has an idea of how he wants to play and has identified midfield as a big sticking point, so wants to strengthen.

Gueye would provide some excellent defensive cover and has shown he can deal with the pace of the Premier League, but he is 33 now.
Playing him alongside an energetic midfielder like Van de Beek, as well as one of Allan, Doucoure or Andre Gomes would give the Toffees a great base to work from.
A deal is unlikely per the report, but it’s not something to rule out entirely and considering he played for the Blues in the past it surely wouldn’t be hard to convince him to come back.
