Fabrizio Romano: Everton fee for Dele Alli may rise to £33m

Everton could pay Tottenham Hotspur up to £33million for their attacking midfielder Dele Alli, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Sky Sports journalist has claimed that the England international is currently signing the contracts at the club.

The Toffees moved quickly on transfer deadline day to get this deal over the line within hours, but could pay a premium after virtually signing him on a free.

Via his personal Twitter account, Romano wrote, “Everton and Tottenham are now signing contracts for Dele Alli deal. Here we go confirmed.

“Details: free transfer, €12m after 20 games and bonuses for next years.
It could reach €35/40m but of course depends on Dele/team performances.”

Tad expensive

Initially, it looks like a good deal, but given the nature of this, it may not make a lot of financial sense for the Toffees.

They were smart in terms of structuring it in a way that made this look like a signing for the next fiscal year.

However, if the deal ends up being worth £33million, it will be a tad expensive.

Everton

Alli is a player who’s been out of form recently and it makes very little sense to shell out that kind of money on him.

If Frank Lampard manages to work wonders with him, then it will be a masterstroke, but as of now, there’s plenty to be underwhelmed about this.

With Donny van de Beek also in the team, it does not make sense to sign another number 10.

In other Everton news, the club have made an approach to sign an English attacker before the window closes.
