Michael Ball shares his reaction to Frank Lampard becoming Everton boss
Michael Ball feels that Everton have an opportunity to press the reset button following the appointment of Frank Lampard as their new boss.
After a long two weeks wait following Rafa Benitez’s sacking, Everton after speaking to all the candidates, chose to appoint the former Chelsea manager.
Ball has described him as a “young, fresh manager” who is eager to show every one of his potential as a manager.

As a player, Lampard is one of the best midfielders the country has produced in the last 20 years, and Ball has been left impressed with the work he did for Chelsea and Derby.
He has suggested that Lampard was part of a mediocre team like Everton and he was a big part of the side that grew and changes the attitude over the years, something he can bring at Goodison Park.
Ball wrote in his column for the Liverpool Echo: “The biggest thing for me about Frank’s appointment, that I think many people have missed, is when you look at where Everton are now, he was part of a mediocre team to start with at Chelsea but he was at the club when they grew, changed their mentality, and became Premier League and eventually European champions.
“He’ll be very wise to those experiences, the pros and cons that go with it and I think that could be massive for us because that’s where we want to be.
“We want to try and follow that pathway of challenging for European spots and then hopefully, titles in a few years’ time.”
Spot on
Lampard joined Chelsea from West Ham and went on to achieve legendary status at the London club.
When he first joined, the Blues were a good team but they never looked like becoming champions.
The side improved gradually, especially after Roman Abramovich bought the club. He has spent a lot of money and bought some world-class players over the years.
Lampard was an epitome of consistency for the Blues, and Ball has rightly said that he achieved this cult status through honesty and hard work.

Everton need an identity. Farhad Moshiri has spent loads of money but the results haven’t been satisfactory. Lampard should be given time to rebuild the club.
The Toffees already made some very good signings towards the end of the window, with the club bringing in Donny van de Beek and Dele Alli.
It’s time to deliver on the pitch.
In other Everton news, Lampard wants to bring in a legendary ex-teammate to be part of his staff.
