Everton in pole position to hire Steve Hitchen ahead of Newcastle
Everton are favourites to hire Steve Hitchen as their new director of football after he left Tottenham, according to The Independent.
The online newspaper reports that while Leicester and Newcastle United are both considering moves to hire the 45-year-old, Goodison Park is his likeliest destination as it stands.
Hitchen has left Tottenham after five years, in which he played a major role as Mauricio Pochettino’s chief scout and also occupied the role as director of technical performance.

All change
Everton are pushing hard to get the new make-up of the club as soon as possible and if we hire Hitchen, we feel as though that would be a great move.
Marcel Brands was a complete and utter failure. However, in fairness to the Dutchman, it seems as though Farhad Moshiri and his cronies meddling way more in his affairs than they probably should’ve done.
If Moshiri is going to hire Hitchen, then he needs to trust him.

The former Macclesfield defender played a huge role in Tottenham’s rise to the point they were in a Champions League final a few years ago and while we’re not expecting similar success at Goodison Park, we do need to start moving in the right direction.
We haven’t made our minds up on Frank Lampard being the new manager just yet. We’re totally supportive of the ex-Chelsea and Derby boss but we feel as though a lot of the excitement over his appointment was simply because it wasn’t Vitor Pereira.
Lampard doesn’t have a tough act to follow and he wasn’t the worst candidate. But he can be a success here if he’s backed by the owner and also has the strong support of a knowledgeable director of football.
And Hitchen can be exactly that.
