Kevin Campbell reacts as Frank Lampard named Everton boss this week

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell has insisted that Frank Lampard will have the instant respect of the Everton dressing room this week.

The ex-Toffees talisman admitted that his name would have helped massive with signings, but now it is ‘key’ for him to create an exciting and aggressive style at Goodison Park.

Everton take on Brentford in the FA Cup this weekend in his first game in charge, and Campbell knows that at first, it is all about results.

“Not only transfers but the players who are already there,” he exclusively told Goodison News.

“It’s going to be really important for Lampard, he will have the respect, some might have played against him, or at least watched him in the Premier League and he knows what he’s talking about.

“So, he’s a big name and it’s for him to forge and form that squad, bond it with the fan base and get it moving in the right direction, I think that’s key.

“He needs results to start with, obviously, but looking forward, you’ve got to shape the way the team play, Everton fans want it to be exciting and aggressive.”

Lampard will know that he has to get results instantly.

The FA Cup isn’t vital, but it gives the Toffees the opportunity to go out and put on a performance before two Premier League games with Newcastle and Leeds that are bound to be our most important of the season.

The squad are playing for their futures now, and they were given that warning with the signings of Dele Alli and Donny Van de Beek.

Anyone who won’t come together to hand the fans that aggressive and attractive style on the pitch, may not have a future.
